Here's my $0.02 ..
The 45 degree stuff on the left seems at odds with the right. The whisps seem a little too blurred too, and you can see the individual brushes that make it up, you can see the different directions. To the far right you've overlaid one and it has a high brightness/whiteness that masks the others underneath, perhaps do this again over the paler ones to hide the multidirectional grain.
Anyhow, keep it up and keep experimenting!
